Purpose
PESB is convening a workgroup to develop essential learnings for two specialty endorsements in computer science: one in elementary computer science and one in secondary computer science. The Washington State Legislature has asked PESB to add these two specialty endorsements to the state system.
Specialty endorsements provide professional growth opportunities for in-service educators and add professional recognition on a state certificate. Specialty endorsements can be offered by teacher preparation programs or other approved organizations. Educators can grow their professional knowledge and skills in the areas that they are interested in by earning specialty endorsements. Essential learnings for specialty endorsements represent the standards or competencies an educator must meet in order to earn the specialty endorsement.
