Alternative Routes

Workgroup product

Recommendations to the Board were presented in January 2019 (folder).

Purpose

  • Review the recommendation from the testing barriers workgroup to change Alternative Route testing entrance requirements for the WEST-E/NES
  • Give input into the technical WAC language changes needed

The workgroup will provide input in order to create definitions needed for specific areas in the Alternative Routes WAC, including residency, mentored internship, summer intensive, employment, field placement, student teaching, and a few other areas. The group will approach this through the lens of examining best practices in the field, and identifying areas of inconsistency or confusion, in order to come to final agreement on definitions to provide needed clarity. The scope and purpose of this effort is to further define these specific terms related to Alternative Routes in order to create more clarity for programs.

Meeting information and materials

PESB staffed a steering committee in the Spring of 2018 to provide initial input and direction to fulfill the charge of the group. Following these meetings, a workgroup is coming together in Fall of 2018 to review and provide final input into recommendations for WAC changes.
