Advancing equity workgroup

The 2021-23 advancing equity grant workgroup had its kickoff meeting on January 29, 2021. The newest grant iteration supports educator preparation programs to implement strategies to achieve bold goals in:

  • substantively transforming program policies, practices, or procedures
  • building leadership capacity for planning, enacting, and assessing equity-minded initiatives
  • examining teacher candidate assessments
  • including teacher candidates, educators, and community members as partners in advancing equity

Workgroup updates to this page are forthcoming. Learn more about the 2021-23 Advancing Equity Grant.

2017-19 workgroup

The purpose of the 2017-19 advancing equity workgroup was to develop and implement best practices that advance equity in educator preparation programs. The group focused on practices that center racial equity and community engagement in order to diversify their candidates and produce more culturally responsive educators. PESB partnered with the community-based organization, Multicultural Education Rights Alliance (McERA), to co-facilitate workgroup meetings and strengthen the workgroup’s understanding of community engagement.
