“Paraeducators: what we do matters” modules

Purpose

The “paraeducators: what we do matters” modules subcommittee was charged with reviewing modules created by Education Northwest for OSPI and to submit recommendations on their application and effectiveness towards paraeducator professional learning.

The legislature passes SB 2376, which allocates funding from the general fund to the OSPI to develop online professional learning modules aligned with PESB paraeducator work group recommendations for paraeducator professional standards. In December 2016, OSPI contracts Education Northwest with the development of the paraeducator professional learning modules. The product “paraeducators: what we do matters” was then created.

Work group product

The subcommittee put forward the following recommendations (document) regarding the “paraeducators: what we do matters” modules. These recommendations (folder) were approved by the Paraeducator Board during the November 2017 meeting.
