Career and Technical Education: phase 2

Purpose

The purpose of the PESB Career and Technical Education (CTE) phase 2 workgroup is to review state policy regarding CTE educator preparation and related CTE certification issues. The goal of this workgroup will be to develop policy recommendations to the board.

This past year, the PESB engaged with the OSPI CTE office and stakeholders in a review of CTE certification in our state. That workgroup examined an number of certification issues relating to in-service educators and realized that issues relating to CTE educator preparation also needed to be examined.

The main areas planned to review this upcoming year include:

  • CTE educator preparation program standards, and related pre-service requirements
  • CTE educator preparation program approval process
  • CTE educator preparation program review
  • Other relevant issues which may arise during the course of the work group

Between meetings, workgroup members are encouraged to communicate with their organizations in order to receive input.
