Educational Staff Associates (ESAs) play a vital role in our state’s education system. It has been a number of years since the certification policy for ESAs has been reviewed. The Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) is convening a workgroup to review state policy regarding certification of ESAs.
The goal of this workgroup will be to formulate recommendations to the board on policy around ESA certification. Issues to be considered include, but are not limited to, renewal of initial ESA certificates and requirements for moving from an initial to a continuing ESA certificate.
In addition, this workgroup will be reviewing considerations regarding a potential ESA certificate for BCBAs (Board Certified Behavioral Analysts.)
Between meetings, workgroup members are encouraged to communicate with their organizations in order to receive input.
