*The exact rate of funding for the 2019-20 school year is unknown at this time since the final number of paraeducators to be trained is unknown. The purpose of this page is to provide the state with a preliminary rate of reimbursement to districts for the training.
A preliminary rate will be established in November, adjusted in February, adjusted in May, and a final adjustment in September when the total number of paraeducators trained is known.
The rate will probably be close to $436 per paraeducator for two days of training (14 hours). This is funding reimbursed directly to the district and not paraeducators or providers that partner with the district. As a reminder to districts, it is a requirement for paraeducators to be paid for the training they receive.
|The 2019-21 Operating Appropriations Bill (HB 1109/SB 5153) contains an appropriation of $12,001,000 for the 2019-20 school year to offset the cost of districts providing two days of training on the Fundamental Course of Study to all paraeducators. The appropriation shall not be available for reimbursement to districts after September 1, 2020.||School districts and ESDs who hire paraeducators are to complete iGrants package 918 to file preliminary and final claims for funding to help offset costs incurred during paraeducator Fundamental Course of Study training during the 2019-20 school year. Final claims must be received no later than Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Claims submitted after that date will not be funded.|
