Share Innovative Teacher Preparation Initiatives

  • Deans and directors

Members of the House of Representatives have requested a list of “innovative” teacher preparation initiatives that are designed to prepare teachers to meet the needs of today’s schools and students.  “Initiatives” may be sub-programs within a College of Education, specific courses or learning models, collaborations with other institutions or school districts, etc.

You may have seen a similar request for information from WACTE because we are using multiple channels to get this request out to those who may be in the best position to respond.  Please forward on your responses to me - Nick Gillon - as well as WACTE and PESB, by ‪October 15 so that everyone is in the loop.

If you're interested in knowing what is taking place in the region around GYO educators, we would like to invite you to attend the Road Map GYO Educator Regional Gathering and be part of the ongoing regional conversation concerning growing your own educators.

Gates Foundation funding supports the efforts for the Regional Gatherings, as PESB brings many stakeholders together who are interested in the efforts to “Grow Your Own” Educators. During last year’s gathering we launched and celebrated the efforts reported in the Grow Your Own Teachers Report. I hope you will be able to join us this year, as we come together to discuss what has happened since we last gathered a year ago; celebrate the efforts since then; and talk about our organizations, partnerships, and next steps.

Please register to take part in the conversation for the Road Map GYO Educator Regional Gathering: Monday, October 23, 2:00-4:00pm, Highline College, Mt. Constance/Olympus, 2400 S 240th St, Des Moines, WA 98198. Register at Eventbrite
