There are two Residency (ESA) Certificates: school psychologist and school counselor. The other five roles (school social work, school nurse, occupational therapist, speech-language pathologist, and physical therapist) are certificated as educators on the Initial/Continuing track.

Initial Certificate: The Initial is the first issue certificate for all ESA roles prior to 9/2005 and five of the seven ESA roles currently. For information on a first issue Initial Certificate or a second issue Initial Certificate applications, contact the OSPI Certification Department.

Candidates seeking certification in School Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, or School Nurse see the OSPI Certification Office.

Residency: School psychologists and school counselors with first issue certificates since 9/2005 are on the Residency/Professional track. Following Board action July, 2011, school social workers are now on the Initial/Continuing Track.
