Student Achievement

The PESB envisions districts and universities clear on the role of pre-service candidates in classroom student learning. This vision includes integration between the candidates' instruction during field experience and student learning goals where candidates, experienced teachers, and university supervisors collaborate on evidence of student learning.

Promising Practices: Co-Teaching with a trained mentor and intern is replacing solo student teaching with positive results; Professional Learning Communities engage in dialog on student learning.

Field Experiences

Universities and districts are streamlining placement processes, coordinating mentor training, and supporting co-teaching with the goals of least disruption and highest positive impact on student learning.

Promising Practices: The East Side Leadership Team, four universities and Spokane-Cheney area district leaders, meet regularly to solve shared problems with cost-effective solutions. Click on the link above to see their web resources and the WA CoTeach website.
