Recruiting Washington Teachers Program
In 2007, the state legislature passed and funded the Recruiting Washington Teachers Program. The intent of the program is to recruit high school students into the teaching profession in content shortage areas. During the 2009 legislative session the program received continuation funding to support four partnerships between school districts, higher education and community-based organizations. The Recruiting Washington Teachers program provides academic support and teaching experiences throughout the calendar year for high school students. The program is administered by the PESB.
